"Education is the key." That is the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon's answer when asked about the Republic of Korea’s transformation from poverty to prosperity.
Having been at the helm of Western International School for 15 years, two of my most important commitments as president have been, to increase access to education and to strengthen teaching and learning. This is an era when knowledge is growing in importance in addressing the world’s most pressing problems. I can assure you of my resolve in advancing the critical role of education in promoting service, achieving social justice, enhancing understanding, and widening opportunity.
Our school has steadily progressed since its foundation in 2003. This year, we welcomed two new branches to our family, one in Boeung Trabek and another in Doung Ngeap. This shows you our commitment to giving all students access to quality education.
Education is constantly undergoing dramatic transformation. I am confident that our teachers and staff are able to quickly adapt and create innovative pathways into teaching for our students. We promise to push the frontiers of knowledge, deepening our students’ understanding of language, mathematics and science. New understandings of human behavior and the brain, along with advances in technology, have opened the door to remarkable new possibilities for teaching and learning, both face to face and online. We constantly question and challenge ourselves on how we can best use our time in the classroom. On how we can connect people and intellectual resources outside the classroom to enhance what happens inside it.
We are fortunate to be in a community where people think and act, imagine and realize. What we all do and what we can do, is what fills me with optimism about the future of Western International School.
We will continue to face significant challenges but we will meet them. To do so, we will need, as a community, to thoughtfully and decisively act. We will adapt where we need to, change our practices or our focus where warranted, but at the same time, vow to remain steadfast in defending what makes Western International School an essential contributor to the pursuit of knowledge.
It is my great privilege to thank you for choosing Western International School.
Congratulations Class of 2018!

“Education is a shared commitment between dedicated teachers, motivated students and enthusiastic parents.” Education is a very important tool for the people all over the world to make balance of life and its existence on Earth. It is the tool which stimulates everyone to go ahead and succeed in life as well as provides ability to overcome challenges in life. It is the one and only way to acquire knowledge and improve our skills in any particular field according to the need. It makes us able to create fine balance of our body, mind and spirit.
It trains us whole life and brings lots of opportunities to our way to get better prospects required for the career growth. Each and every individual need proper education to enhance their own life standards as well as become a part of the social and economic growth of their own country. The future of any person or country depends on the education system strategy
followed. Even after lots of awareness programs about proper education in our country, there are still many villages
without access to proper resources and education.
It is our philosophy that all children are entitled to a rewarding and successful school experience, not only as individuals, but also as members of the school group, the community and the nation. Through a nurturing environment, the school program should stimulate all students to achieve their individual maximum potentials and to develop attitudes, skills, interests and knowledge that enable them to become contributing and productive citizens of society.
We thank you for choosing Western International School to provide educational services to your child.
OUR PROGRAMS: K-12
WIS is currently offering academic programs that are closely paralleled to Northern American standard. Students must complete all compulsory courses and pass the exit examination in order to advance to the next level.
WIS offers Pre-K to Grade 12 curricula. The language of instruction is English for haft-day classes and English and Khmer for full-day classes.
-
First semester starts from 1 September to end of January.
-
Second Semester starts from 1 February to end of June.
Kindergarten Students
The kindergarten at WIS will provide a variety of social, physical, emotional, and academic learning experiences. WIS curriculum is constantly developed by our experienced teachers. Helping the child in learning self discipline and appropriate school behaviors is an integral part of the kindergarten experience. Equipped with appropriate learning tools and facilities along with our experienced teachers, students will gain the required skills and be able to communicate in English well.
SUMMER PROGRAM
WIS also offers summer programs. The program serves two purposes. The first purpose is to provide pre classes for promoted students in the new academic year. The second purpose is to provide failing students another chance. If they pass the subjects they failed at the end of year, they will be promoted to the next grade in the new academic year.
Summer program starts in early July and finishes in late August.
EXCHANGE PROGRAM
The school also offers international programs to be conducted in other countries by cooperating with international partners like CCI in the USA. About 15 students go to the USA every year.
